THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE
DYNAMIC AND CREATIVE FACULTY

The School of Science is one of the most dynamic and creative faculties in Walailak University. The School is divided into four Departments: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics although considerable overlap exists between these areas.

THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE A DYNAMIC AND CREATIVE FACULTY

Faculty members are all experts in their particular field with many research areas represented.

The School has a strong research base and is home to two Centres of Excellence and two research units:

• The Plasma Technology for Agricultural Applications Research Centre, ThEP.
• The Centre of Excellence for Ecoinformatics.
• The Molecular Technology Research Unit.
• The Utilization of Natural Products.
Thus, students benefit from excellent research training and a wide range of choice for their final year research project.

RESEARCH PLACEMENT

In the final year of study all students will undertake a research project guided by a faculty member of their own choosing. A wide range of projects are available in large part due to the diversity research interests among the faculty. Students have full access to research facilities in the University and through

extensive collaborations with universities and institutes around the world, to state-of-the-art facilities to support them in their research.

In taking charge of their own research project students gain hands on experience in working in a research laboratory and develop essential critical thinking and creative skills much valued by prospective employers.

DPST students follow a slightly different path and are expected to do research every summer developing their research skills throughout the four year programme. It is not unusual for the results from this research to be presented at scientific conferences or published in a quality scientific journal.
